Purposeful Parenting

July is Purposeful Parenting Month, and we honor the parents that have provided crucial support for their children undergoing treatment at WestBridge. Our supportive community helps families find the balance to continue a healing journey towards a healthy and fulfilling life.

Purposeful-ParentingParenting itself is a life-changing responsibility. Being a parent isn’t an easy job but, with lots of effort and hard work, it can be very rewarding. Parenting is a difficult job and a juggling act. It requires balancing your own needs with those of your child. It involves managing time, having adequate resources, and being able to support your child.

For many parents who have a child with a dual diagnosis of mental health and substance use disorder, the role of a caretaker can become over-whelming. Parenting stress and preoccupation may lead to burnout, which is where WestBridge is able to provide the necessary support for parents with a loved one in treatment.

By providing education about mental illness and substance use disorders, and by providing opportunities to build communication and problem-solving skills, , WestBridge involves the whole family in the treatment process. Many parents may struggle with self-care. WestBridge equips parents with consistent support, commitment and education for effective and purposeful parenting from the very beginning.

When feeling overwhelmed, parents can personalize challenges when they are overseeing care for their child. Our recovery program provides parents with knowledge and empathy that is tailored for them. Parents can also meet others who are on a similar journey. WestBridge’s Marathon Campaign acknowledges the fatigue and discouragement that families often experience as they struggle to find a solution for loved ones with mental health issues and substance use disorders. We understand the importance of teamwork in recovery, and we foster collaboration in helping individuals and families succeed in their marathon of recovery.
