A family member’s perspective on treatment at WestBridge
When I first contacted WestBridge, I was at my wit’s end. I knew we had to do something different this time. My son’s life was at stake. The admissions counselors were patient and extremely compassionate as I explained my son’s situation. I was impressed that they flew out to meet our son. It made me very emotional when one of the WestBridge counselors told me, “I knew at once after meeting your son that I was not leaving the state without him.” I knew this was the right place. It was hard to send him so far away, especially in his fragile state, but I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do.
During my son’s stay, I have always felt welcome calling, visiting, and talking with him and his team. The openness of staff and their personal touch have made this ordeal less stressful. I’ve seen such a transformation in my son as he progressed through treatment.
The respect, honesty and accountability of staff have allowed him to trust again. During Family Education and Support sessions we slowly and methodically covered topics based on his needs and issues. The program has helped him come to terms with his challenges and provided him with solid coping skills and strategies to manage his illness and addiction.
I don’t know what we would have done if we didn’t find WestBridge. Their commitment to treating the family and participant as a whole has saved our son. I will forever be grateful to the team and program at WestBridge.
