Part-time Mentor/Outreach Counselors for our Team located in Brooksville, FL

WestBridge is expanding services and in need of several personable, part-time Mentor/Outreach Counselors to work up to 20 hours per week for our Brooksville, FL team.  95% of Mentors time is spent out in the community.

Mentors act as part of the larger WestBridge team. The purpose of this position is to assist clients in making healthy and supportive community connections which will support sobriety, wellness, and overall health.

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the part-time Outreach Counselor (“Mentor”) is a healthy role model that provides active and ongoing community-based outreach and support to individuals who experience severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders. The Mentor performs a wide range of one-on-one support activities including but not limited to:

  • Support the Participant in maintaining a healthy environment
  • Communicate with treatment team after each shift and attend regular supervision with WestBridge Staff
  • Assist in identifying community education needs
  • Build awareness of mental illness, recovery, and substance use disorders
  • Work schedule will vary to generally include weeknights and weekend days and nights.
  • Provide ongoing assessment of mental health status and consults with WestBridge staff
  • Provide the Participant access to their medications and monitor the Participants’ self administration of medications
  • Assist in building support and relationships in the community
  • Develop strong and healthy contacts in the community
  • Maintain compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Represent WestBridge Community Services in a healthy and positive manner
  • Portray a positive role-model in all aspects of care and interactions
  • Maintain professional, healthy boundaries at all times

Mentors work a maximum of 20 hours per week.  Mentors must be able to work two weekends out of the month.  Typical Mentor shifts are from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.  Daytime flexibility is a plus.

Requirements: Mentors must be able to attend the mandatory bi-weekly group supervision meetings on Fridays from 2:00pm – 3:00pm at our Brooksville Office.  Mentors need to have their own cell phone, reliable transportation with 100,000/300,000/100,000 vehicle insurance, and ability to send a brief email after each shift.  The ideal candidate will be familiar with treatment relating to individuals experiencing substance abuse and mental health related diagnoses, as well as knowledge of 12-steps and having strong communication skills.

Those candidates offered positions after completing interviews will need to complete a successful criminal background check ( LiveScan ), Motor Vehicle Records check and pre-employment drug screening.
