Our guest Herb Kaighan shares his insights on the Twelve Steps by explaining the how and why, using his own experience along with traditional and universal spiritual wisdom. His latest book illuminates a path from the dark world of alcoholism and brokenness to a life of peace, purpose and fulfillment. Herb interprets each step and the influences on their development through AA history. The book also embraces the information from non-twelve step books he has read, the guidance he has received from various mentors, and the aggregate of experiences of his spiritual journey.
Herb Kaighan was given the gift of freedom from alcohol on February 21, 1984. As a result of being guided through the Twelve Steps, in 1998 he experienced a profound spiritual awakening. Since then Herb has been very involved in carrying the message of recovery through spiritual awakening by leading presentations, workshops, and retreats. He is the author of Twelve-Step Guide to Using the Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book (2004) and Twelve Steps to Spiritual Awakening: Enlightenment for Everyone (2010). His personal journey includes 7 years in seminary, a graduate education in psychology, and a 40 year career in human resources consulting (retired Nov. 2006).
