Mary Woods Presents at US Journal Training Institute on Behavioral Health and Addictive Disorders.

Mary Woods - WestBridge CEOWestBridge CEO Mary Woods was invited to speak at the February 2014 Behavioral Health and Addictive Disorders conference in Florida recently. She had the opportunity to present a workshop for conference attendees, and her presentation focused on the topic of recovery and wellness in the treatment of dual disorders.

Her presentation highlighted these key issues:

  • Recovery from dual disorders is multi-faceted; it is a journey towards self-actualization which includes physical, emotional, and spiritual growth.
  • There are multiple components of wellness & recovery in dual diagnosis cases. The most prevalent include: tobacco cessation, sleep hygiene, a strength-based approach, and spirituality.

Mary’s presentation focused on individuals who experience severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. You can learn more about the Training Institute’s program and agenda on their website.

CEO of WestBridge. She has worked with people with co-occurring disorders for over 20 years in a variety of programs, including residential and community based services. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of New Hampshire School of Social Work, the past president of NAADAC and has also served on a number of state and national committees related to professional development, advocacy, and treatment.
