WestBridge CEO Mary Woods was invited to speak at the February 2014 Behavioral Health and Addictive Disorders conference in Florida recently. She had the opportunity to present a workshop for conference attendees, and her presentation focused on the topic of recovery and wellness in the treatment of dual disorders.
Her presentation highlighted these key issues:
- Recovery from dual disorders is multi-faceted; it is a journey towards self-actualization which includes physical, emotional, and spiritual growth.
- There are multiple components of wellness & recovery in dual diagnosis cases. The most prevalent include: tobacco cessation, sleep hygiene, a strength-based approach, and spirituality.
Mary’s presentation focused on individuals who experience severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. You can learn more about the Training Institute’s program and agenda on their website.
