Evidence-Based Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment in Manchester, New Hampshire

Welcome

WestBridge is a family-founded private non-profit organization. Our mission is to compassionately provide mental health and substance use treatment to individuals and their families. We incorporate evidence-based practices to promote resiliency and lifelong recovery.

Man being helpedWestBridge welcomes you to our treatment community, where we believe that every individual can heal through the process of recovery. Established in 2001, we are a family-founded non-profit organization located in Manchester, New Hampshire, with treatment outcomes for men with co-occurring disorders published in an international journal. Men come from across the nation for our specialized Residential Treatment Program and Community Integration Program (CIP), and we also treat adults of all genders in our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). We also integrate family into every stage of our treatment. We emphasize integrating family connection and community into every stage of our treatment. For adults over 18 and their families experiencing mental illness with or without co-occurring substance use, we provide more than treatment. We provide hope.

Our Programs:

Adults We Treat

WestBridge treats adults 18 and older who are experiencing mental illness* with or without co-occurring substance use. Our areas of expertise include treating:

  • Schizophrenia Spectrum and other Psychotic Disorders (e.g., Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder)
  • Mood disorders (including Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder)
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

*Can include symptoms of these disorders. A formal diagnosis is not required, as we provide a comprehensive battery of assessments.

Men’s Residential Treatment

Our men’s residential treatment program in Manchester, NH, provides evaluation, treatment, and support in a safe, home-like environment for adult men who experience mental illness with or without co-occurring substance use. Our Residential program has been accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International since 2010 and is licensed by the State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services for both mental health and substance use treatment. We utilize multiple simultaneous evidence-based practices. Our caring professionals are on-site 24/7/365.

Men’s Community Integration Program (CIP)

Men may enter our Community Integration Program (CIP) directly or as a step-down from our residential program. CIP is an effective, is based on principles of Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), an evidence-based model. Men live independently in our local community with support from our trans transdisciplinary team with services and frequency based on evolving individual needs, and 24/7 access to our team. While some services are provided in an office setting, CIP team members primarily work with men in their homes and community, where challenges may occur or support is needed. We also reserve respite capacity in our residential program for current CIP participants in need of additional support.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) serving Adults of all Genders

WestBridge’s IOP is an intermediate level of care for people of all genders who live in the community and can benefit from more support and structure than outpatient therapy can provide, yet do not need the intensity of a partial hospital program, residential treatment program, or hospital. Our IOP services include virtual and in-person therapeutic services to individuals of all genders experiencing symptoms of thought disorders, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders with or without co-occurring substance use. Available services include group therapy, case management, individual therapy, family support, and psychiatric consultation as appropriate.

Strong Outcomes with Evidence-Based Practices

By utilizing multiple, simultaneous evidence-based practices and a caring treatment team, we provide effective treatment. Our evidence-based treatment approaches have been extensively researched and demonstrated to be effective for individuals experiencing mental illness and substance use.

As demonstrated in our published outcome measures for our Residential and Community Based Outpatient Continuum*, mental illness and substance use showed significant success in achieving independent living, reaching/maintaining abstinence, and independent control of their mental health symptoms. Participants also increased time spent with non-substance-using friends and demonstrated success independently managing their sleeping habits to maintain good sleep hygiene. Participants also showed a significant increase in the number of hours worked and the number of courses enrolled in higher education, improved relationships with family members, greater awareness of their spirituality, and independent management of their physical health. *Our ACT program is now known as our Community Integration Program (CIP), which is even more individualized, and we anticipate similar results.

Community Integration

Individuals have higher rates of self-esteem, value, and recovery when actively engaged in their community. Participants in our Residential Program utilize community fitness resources such as the YMCA, attend mutual support meetings (such as Alcoholics Anonymous), engage in social and wellness activities, and work to improve independent living skills. For those in our Community Integration Program (CIP), many clinical services, as well as supported employment, volunteerism, and education, are provided in the local community. Our CIP Care Management Service for adult men is based on principles of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model. Studies have shown that ACT services are highly effective for men experiencing mental health with or without co-occurring substance use disorders live independently in their communities while managing symptoms and gaining recovery skills. Family Inclusion & Participation

WestBridge is strongly committed to the integration of family in treatment across all levels of care. In our Residential Program and Community Integration Program, we utilize the evidence-based practice of Family Education and Support (FES), which is also offered as an additional service in our Intensive Outpatient Program. During FES, we support participants and their families in working together over the course of treatment through education, skill-building, and problem-solving. Our Family Recovery Resource Program, available to Residential and CIP families, is comprised of our family education and support curriculum, clinical updates, family peer support, webinars, online peer groups, and more. By embracing these supports, families learn to manage the impact of mental health and substance use disorders while simultaneously reconnecting and healing together. We have seen that recovery is best fostered when family members are involved in the treatment and decision-making process. Read more
